I thought that was a fuel overflow fitting. I plumbed mine to the gas tank.

Yep, it's E. I think I've even typed it as tell tail. But I got to thinking about it and looked it up, and sure enough, it is Telltale, as in: "The boat left a telltale oil slick on the water where it sank because the owner put poly resin over epoxy and the transom fell off".<br /><br />

My 120 mercruiser alpha one doesn't have a stream of water coming out of the engine... if it did I'd take it to a repair shop

I did notice that my 72/73 Merc factory service manual calls it a "tell tale".

I can't see the telltale from behind the wheel in my boat. Was thinking of putting a piece of copper tube bent like a U so the stream would shoot up and back. Kind of Jet Ski style so I can see it while I'm running. But, it could be a problem when at the docks with a water stream shooting 6 to 10 feet behind me. <br /><br />Have a few more gadgets to add to the boat, a water pressure guage will probably be one of them.
