2002 225 efi . New to me boat. Old boat tilt/trim did not make much noise. New boat works fine but when you lift the motor the unit screams as if it is having problems.<br /> Thanks, Dead Eye

Air in the system. Run the tilt all of the way up, press the UP button several times. This causes the head pressure to go up to over 400 PSI which opens the release valve. This kicks the air back into the resevoir. While the motor is still in the full UP position, carefully open the filler top to the hydraulic system. This should bleed the air out and quiet the pump down considerably.

If when you open the fill tube, you don't see fluid, you can add Type A auto transmission fluid. If it was really low, you may have to run a bleed cycle again.

Or can it be that your new outboard is so quiet that it's more noticable? If that's a 225 4-stroke, you'll notice more little sounds that noisy 2-strokes drown-out. Power Trim/Tilt fluid would be the "appropriate" stuff to use, but most everybody uses ATF and that's fine. :)
