Merc. 9.8 carb

I just bought a Merc. 9.8 serial # 5823140.<br />I believe it is a early to mid 80's motor. I was wondering if I could replace the 9.8 carb with a 15 hp carb. Thank you in advance for any and all info.

The 2 engines don't use the same carb, but I don't know what you are trying to do

I was told that the 15 hp carb would fit in the 9.8 . I am trying to get more hp out of the motor if possible.
