You better think about that, Big E. The next ban may be your boat, car, duck gun or favorite beverage. Nothing is out-of-reach.

c/6

Hooty

Hooty is right. This is just a "trial balloon". They're going to pull the balloon down in one year and see how many holes it has in it.

Rest assured, you powerboat is NEXT! If we could figure out a way to ban idiots, we'd all be saved.

For those of you that don't vote, start kicking yourselves now.

We as sportsman/boaters/humans have lost enough rights. I hate seeing any new laws passed when the ability to enforce the ones we have is lacking.

Ok think about this...Pass the new PWC law who will enforce it? Oh, hire more people. Who pays those new hires WE DO!!! We are at the bottom of this food chain.

Bob

Re: Ban on PWC's-Thank You Uncle Sam!!

this is a nice victory to keep stupid people out of a pwc but a loose for us boaters, we will be next, I heard this morning that here in the stupid state of California some stupid person has a bill that will have terible effects on the state. it is the mini-van/pickup truck/suv tax. a new tax on the purchase, higher registeration, a bigger gas tax on the gas used in one and a per mile tax. this is really bad news if this passes, they are trying to get people to stop purchaseing these safe, very usefull and fun vehicles . WE HAVE TO STOP THIS. if this passes then are boats will definatly will be next!!!!!

Hooty is right. This may taste of victory, but it reaks of property rights violation to me. You have to understand a bit of my history to understand what i mean.
I live in SW Florida, and we have problems with a group of zealots who call themselves "Save The Manatee club". These people are zealots. In other words, manatee safety is more important than human safety,or the existance of any other living thing in our local waters.
They sued (and won) the Federal Fish and Wildlife Commission, and as a result, waterfront prperty owners localy, have lost the right to build or repair thier docks.
Most inland waterways are idle speed only durring the winter months..Don't get me wrong, I don't have much of a problem with that. I go out to fish and relax anyway,so put-putting is somewhat ok with me. But the FWC has been blackmailed into these land-grabs and permit refusals by these sea cow worshippers. If it actually SAVED lives of sea cows, i don't think I would be half as opposed to the whole thing, but they don't. The idle zones, yes,in many (BUT NOT ALL) areas they have been imposed.
You may be asking,"What does this have to do with banning waterturds?"
Well it's the exact same thing. Let them ban PWCs,and in a few years, do not be shocked to find your boat banned from the same waterways! WHY? Don't fret,my friends. They'll think of some dumb-as reason.

The Aussies have already banned firearms. However, some criminals do not feel obliged to obey the strict gun laws.

Firearms, campaign finance reform, eminent domain laws, no entry/idle zones, PWC and boat banning...
If you have property, someone else may want it,or resent you having it. They may feel good about "protecting the gray sea urchin",while the "black-webbed snook darter" dies because the number of sea urchins ate thier breeding grasses!
Oy!
If you feel strongly for or against something, attend the meetings, spam the rep's inbox, type yer brains out in your favorite forum....BUT DON'T let your gaurd down..Because if oyu feel strongly enough to want to use your boat,PWC,or build a dock, you best fight and keep on fighting..Because the opposition will never quit, if it is thier religion. And it realy is just that to some of these fanatic groups!

NZ's saving grace is that we have such a high proportion of "boaties" in the voting population. Just let them try...

I agree!! We cannot sit by and let them decide what they are going to ban under a "one year period" This is nothing but a stepping stone to limiting power boats in the future!! The movement is already under way with the upcoming "enviromental standards" that will force a lot of us to dispose of perfectly runnning older engines just to buy one with "stars" on the cowl so we can use our favorite lakes. The senate just narowlly failed to pass a bill that would limit cars and trucks to 30 M.P.G or above. Whats next? Exercise your right to VOTE. Tell your senator and congressman what you think. They are suppossed to represent us not the big corporations and the bleeding hearts.

Have any of you Gent's ever ridden a PWC? Let's tell the truth now. I used to hate them too till I got one. It's just like everything else, you have a few idiots out there and it F**ks it all up for the rest of use. Since I got mine the boat stays in the dock more and more. They really are a lot of fun. I opened this box of worms up so let me have it.

Re: Ban on PWC's-Thank You Uncle Sam!!

Make no mistake about this guys! The environmentilists are out to get rid of recreational boating. They say we dont need it. They say we have to protect the rights of the manatees and porpise who live there.

They start out by making "speed zones". When the speed zones cant be enforced, they sue the state to make those zones a "no entry zone". No entry means just that. No boats - no PWC's - no canoes - no swimming.

Everbody says they cant do this but they are doing it. They have gotten PWC's banned from national parks and now want them banned from shallow water.

PLEASE go to www.standing-watch.org and check things out for yourself. Join this organization as they are trying their best to fight for our rights as boaters.

Re: Ban on PWC's-Thank You Uncle Sam!!

I have to agree with garageguy I really hated them until my wife talked me into buying one. It is great fun and uses a lot less fuel than my cruiser. We anchor and if we want to run around we use the ski. I know there are a lot of idiots that ride them but no one said when you buy a boat you had to have a brain either. Now I see more idiot boaters than ever Rich guys with more money than brains who have no Idea what no Wake means or for Georgia boaters the 100ft rule.

Tell me why bass boaters feel they have to run WOT every where they go. Most arguements for the Ban of PWC consern the use of two stroke oils. Hello fishing fans most of you run two stoke engines so your next. I do my best to provide a wide birth to all folks on the lake in both my crusier and my Ski. I respect the rights of the guys fishing and stay clear of them so I don't scare the fish or create a wake for them.

If the tree huggers have there way the only way you will get on any inland lake or river is with human or electric power. You start outlawing any boat you are attacking all boats.

Ok I will now step down off my soap box.

I agree with flatsman on the voting issue. How many that read this board actually vote, I would say-few. You know, too busy, it doesn't count, yada, yada, yada. You better believe it counts, look what happened in '00'. We almost got the posterchild for the eco wackos in the White House.

Yes, sometimes you have to hold your nose and pull the lever. Look at the turncoat I have in this state in John McCain.
