EVERYONE! how much do you think shes worth>?

hey guys! i have a 1977 wellcraft fisherman. im putting a new floor in, and repainting the inside and outside of the hull, she'll be a navy blue on the outside with pearl white inside by spring. i have a 1980 evanrude on the back, its a 235 hp, and she runs like a champ!. when shes done, im puttin a 300 dollar sound system in her. im askin all of you what do you think shed be worth???i need everyones input, im planning on getting a price idea in my head so when i do sell her id kinda know what i was gettin

well this is my thinking, im gonna get her ready for the summer and then put her up for 5800, now i knwo this is high, but i figure if i put her up for sale all summer, no loss no gain, cuz i want a boat for the summer, but if someone is willing to pay the 5800 OBO then id sell her right away. just wanted to get a feel for what you guys though it was worth. <br />as for how much im putting into it, the floor has and will cost me $300 interlux paint $35 a quart and ill need about 4 or 5 for the entier thing, which is about 170 in paint, and im pretty much done! add the sound system and i came out to about $850 to fix her up, i only paid 1500 for her so you tell me, about half of what im going to pay??

You are not factoring your time in your cost, but the point is that the boat is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Unfortunately, the value of most older boats is dictated by the age and condition of the engine. <br /><br />I am guessing that you will could get around $2000 to $3000 if it is in great shape. That may not be what you hoped to here, but I think it is accurate. There are a lot of old, fuel hungry, boats currently on the market or will be on the market by summer. The 235 on your boat, while running great, is not the most fuel efficient engine. <br /><br />You can always try it at 5800 and see what happens. If you have no bites early in the year at 5800, expect to drop your price for the end of the season. Boat buyers look for bargains as Labor day approaches.<br /><br />Good luck.

No insult intended jserb, but I gotta tell ya, I'd have a hard time spending $5800.00 for a 29 year old boat with a 26 year old motor, no matter what condition it was in. But that's just me.. You may very well get close to your asking price, given enough time on the market and the right buyer. Good luck and happy boating in the meantime...

Bondo <br />apparently you dont understand, i know its not worth 5800, but yet we do see people everyday pay much more for things than they should, i understand its not likly that someone would pay that kind of $, but if you dont try then you'll never know, i want the boat for the summer anyway, but if someone were to pay me that amount id gladly give her up, is all my point

If it's in good overall condition and running well it might fetch $3500-$4000 here (on a decent galvanized trailer). I'd have to see a picture.

Oh, come on Bondo, there are dumb people everywhere and they don't even know that they are dumb. This guy could find some goof ball that thinks it is a great deal. A great deal is a state of mind. <br /><br />John, if you find more than one guy that will give you $5800 for your boat, I have a 1991 VIP vision I would sell for $10000, even though it is worth about $5000. I would be willing to let somone have it at that price.

hey everyone! thanks for your input, even u bondo , shes a 20 footer with a double axle galvanized trailer, but the people before me paint the triler and of course its chipping off right now, trailer is in great shape just looks bad.
