Hi All,
I am considering a purchase of a boat that sunk at a dock with 2000yr. twin 200HP Suzuki's on it. It was saltwater and the boat was pulled and some preservation done. The engines now turn over but there is no spark or power to the fuel pumps.(So they say) Can anyone advise on what may have fried? I need a idea of damage to come up with a reasonable offer.
Thanks in advance,
Mark

Don’t worry I have no interest in that boat. I keep an eye on that particular site from time to time. When I looked at that thing I just figured on picking up a set of used engines. I am not a mechanic but when I looked at that thing I did the math for buying 2 used engines. Maybe some of the mechanics on this board could give you some insight.

Mac

Thanks VMac,
I have not seen the vessel in person. Can you fill me in on the condition any more than their web site? I figured that the fact that they turn over might make the repair not goo goo bucks. What did you think of the hull and other stuff?
Thanks,
soderquist1@comcast.net
Mark

Sorry about the confusion, I have not seen the boat in person. I am on the west coast of Florida that is a bit of a drive for something I really am not serious about. I only ran some numbers here at my desk.
Mac

Hi VMac,
Me too, I was looking at the 26 Century till it went way too high. I think the Monza could still be a possibility with a little luck. Where are you at? I am in Englewood FL.

quist1,

Saltwater ingestion-forget the engines, they are a total write off. You may get something for the lower units, tilt/trim units and other small parts.

Even if you could salvage the powerheads, you are looking at replacing every wire and electronic component attached to it. The carbs. are probably junk too.

Thanks, DJ,
These engines are Injected, This would reduce the damage correct?

hello
if the engines had been torn down and preseved they may be worth salvaging. if the were just filled with oil and cranked over they are most likely junkers or parts at best.some of the electrical parts will exceed the cost of the mechanical repairs.unless you are a trained zuki dealer I would stay away from sunk motors.
just my opinion.
good luck and keep posting
troy at Troy marine in chesapeake VA had a pair of those zuki 225 for sale I think

Way TOO Much! It would be interesting to see how much the new owner has to "sink" into her to get a well running vessel. How about the 40' Mainship at 95K!

We are a bit off topic but…That one is a bit odd… How do you get that much rain water in a hull on shore? With the deck hatched closed, It would take years of rain to fill that thing up…
If they left every hatch open on that thing it would take 2-3 feet of rainfall to fill-up. Then look at the “New info” The engine cranks now? Did someone go out there and drain the diesel that was put in the engine to preserve it?

I think the only good deal was the Regulator.

I think the Mainship filled up to the cockpit scuppers and then drained out. Remember the summer rains, we had a number of 5-10 inch days with even more inland. Much of this would drain down into the cockpit. I can't believe they did not take out the drain plugs and open seacocks with hoses off. US Auctions told me they thought it was purposeful neglect. The Regulators engines were frozen. At least the Monza was freed up, but book on the Regulator was about double the Monza.

Maybe they threw a running garden hose in the bilge too!

I figured 0$ value for the engines on the Regulator and the Monza deals.
Mac
