This weekend I purchased a 2003 DT225EFI 2 stroke at the Miami boat show. I have not yet rigged the motor but will be in the water soon. I am asking advice an the break in procedures, I am sure I will get 3 or 4 dirrerent methods from 3 or 4 different people. I have heard all kinds of different ways, but if anyone ownes this type of motor, I would like to know what your dealer told you so I can compare it to how my dealer advises me.
Also, while at the boat show, I was asking about 2cycle oil, all the motor manufactures said to run their oil, (of course) I always run valvoline outboard 2stroke tcw3 oil. Then everybody else says any tcw3 works just as well as the other. Can anybody shed some light on this mystery?
One last thing, my previous motor was a 1985 DT140, has good lower unit and ran fine, just has a bad cylinder, I need to get rid of it now but do not know what its worth, any body have any idea what I can get for this? or if anyone is intrested in this, let me know, thanks!!

I don't want to sound like a smart aleck, but why don't you just follow the manufacturers break in procedure?

They have just as much invested in making you happy as you do.
