oil ratio for 20hp suzuki

what is the ratio for a 1984ish, motor numbers are gone, 20 hp. there is a sticker , two of them actually , on the motor that says 100:1 is this true, its not oil injected. its just good ol 2 stroke... why would this motor be 100:1<br />any ideas?

Hi PMM.<br /><br />In the 80s, several makers experimented with 100:1 mixes in search of lower emissions. A lot of engines blew up. Most of them have renegged on it and now recommend 50:1.<br /><br />I don't know if Suzuki is in that group, but I would run 50:1 unless Suzuki specifically told me to use 100:1 as originally specified.<br /><br />Good luck. :)

hello<br /> I gotta agree with JB on this on too. I worked for a suzuki dealer in norfolk late 80's early 90's. we found in the engine was in top shape(most are not) and used weekly 100 to 1 was ok. if anything degraded or the engine sat extended periods 100/1 was no longer any good and wristpins would rust or pistons would scuff. 50/1 will be fine.<br /> good luck and keep posting
