RodBolt,<br />No spark on 1,3,5,replaced CDI located between the cylinder banks, still no spark 1,3,5. Suz seem to think the ICU on stb side of engine was bad, replaced ICU , still no spark 1,3,5. Stator output, trigger output, counter output, pack output 2,4,6 all within specs. I can take any 2 or 3 triggers wires and fire 2,4,6, and fire coils for 1,3,5. Triggers wires come from ICU. Again all trigger wires from ICU are within specs. I think new cdi is bad, Suz says they never had bad CDI out of the box. All wires and connections checked. Everything checked with peakreading meter. Oil flow sensor, water flow sensor waterpump, thermostats replaced to solve overheating, compression about 90 psi.What you think?

Stevens, adjustable gap tester, from Rapair. Two sparksplugs per cylinder. Dont know when it started. No history on engine. Engine not pumping water, and stalled when put into gear. I repaired cooling system, then check engine for spark. Cdi replaced, same problem. All test lead to Cdi. Check and cleaned all grounds. Second Cdi will be here Tuseday. I have all factory manuals and tech support, but this thing is killing me.

hello<br /> have you tested both legs of each pulsar coil for shorts to ground><br /> the only thing I can thionk of that could take out just a bank of cylinders. well I am reading the suzy Q electrical manual and it says for 88 no fire on 1,3,5 to dissconnect the wiring for the low oil reset. it also says later models 89 and up have the reset circuits in the CDI unit and if damaged or defective will cause a loss of spark on 1,3 and 5. if this does not help post me back<br /> good luck and keep posting

No, We have replaced everything except the stator,<br />Boss will talk to Suz again Monday, and we may order a stator. Have factory manual and everthing checks good. There was only an ohm check for the IC/powercoil which makes power for the icu logic and this may be the problem. Every check leads back to CDI/powerpack, and we have 2 new ones. I talked to Ray at Rapair, he had nothing new to offer, said he would check other sources. The first Suz rep said CDI, second one said ICU, after ICU did not work, he said back to CDI. Im down to about 00001 cent an hour on this one.

I replaced 2 of the coils under the flywheel, we could not get a complete stator from Suz. I installed them this morning, didnt even tighten the flywheel, spun the engine and had 6 good looking sparks. It will take a few days to put everything back in its place and watertest the boat. Then I will have detail list of what happen, and try to not make self look too bad. Did someone say trust your instinct.

This engine now running better then when new, engine on a heavy bass boat, will put boat on plane at half throttle with 2 people, full tank of fuel.
