No water coming out of tell-tale hole on 1999 Suzuki DF70

Previously, I posted a problem I am having with my 1999 Suzuki DF70. This engine is in top condition,etc. Water does not flow out of the pee-hole. Taking advice from this forum, I have removed the plastic noozle with the pee hole, in the hopes that might help. (No).<br />Water is recirculating out of the exhaust nicely.<br />Other than removing the plastic tell-tale noozle from the exterior of the engine, what else can I do myself. Can I thread a wire through this opening now that the noozle is removed. Is there a way of removing the plastic housing of the engine so I can readily access the tell-tale line. My hunch is that the line is plugged either at its orifice origin or in the tell-tale tube itself. Again, even with the plastic tell-tale noozle removed, engine still doesn't pee. There is nothing wrong with impeller etc.

My telltale on My 2001 Evinrude ( DF70 cousin)was not working either this year. Just dribbled. <br /><br />Got this advice from my Marina-Mech-<br />removed the telltale cap , remove the side hose intake cap and push water in reverse through the system and possbly the obstruction will come out of the side of the Motor.<br /><br /><br />well it worked!! right away!

I had a 20 merc that lost its tell tale hole I took a piece of fine wire and ran it up there and it cleared the blockage!

If you still have the problem....I have a pair af DF140's and had the same problem this year. Turns out the covering of the engine got "out of whack" somehow and pinched the tube coming from the lower unit to the pee hole. I loosened the three screws that hold the body on and threaded a thin wire into the tube. I tightened the screws while the wire was still in the hole and now it works fine! Good Luck.

Check for mud dauber wasp activity. They love to nest in the telltale opening. Poke a small stiff wire out the opening and see if any dirt comes out. My cousin had the same thing happen on his 20hp Merc.

Did you get this sorted out? I have the same motor and had the same problem. I had to remove the lower cowl on the right side. There is a hose which feeds the back side of the tell tale. This was plugged. As soon as I started to wiggle and squeez it, water started to flow again. Good luck.
