Is there any big difference between the '03 and the '04 115 Yamaha 4 -stroke?

We are purchasing a 25 ft Sanpan and can upgrade from the existing '04 75 HP Yamaha 4 ST to a new, leftover '03 115 HP Yamaha 4 ST for minimal (<$1000).

My feeling is to go with the bigger HP, but wondering about any '04 upgrades I may miss with the '03.

Rodbolt,

Thanks for the information.

First pontoon and first outboard purchase. We've been into performance baots for several years (decades!), guess the age thing has finally caught up to us.

Should get the boat in the next two weeks, will let you know how it goes.

Thanks again.

2004 Yamaha F115 4-stroke is CARB 3-star rated, 2003 model (and earlier) is CARB 2-star rated. No other diffrences as I know of. I have a Yamaha F115 4-stroke 2003 myself.
Get the F115.
/Bo

Re: 2003 vs. 2004 Yamaha 115 hp

I have a 2002 115 4 stroke EFI Mecury (It has alot of Yamaha parts i.e. power head) I have also have a problem with water in my engine oil. Mercury has put a high temp thermostat and a new set of plugs along with a new ECU. It came up to about $1500 it is still under warrenty. I have been told by Mercury that up to a cup full of water is within acceptable parameters. I am currently seeking legal representation. I belive there is a design flaw in the power head on all Merc's and Yama's Power heads 115 4 stroke models. They refuse to replace my motor. I will have my day in court and then see what they will do !!!!!
