dead 70hp outboard motor

Hooked battery backwards and after connecting it right still no power trim or cranking ability. Any thoughts on whats up?<br />Thanks for any suggestions as to what may have happened.

yep. usually when ya hook it up backwards it tends to blow the 20 amp ign feed fuse.<br /> good luck and keep posting

Hi rodbolt...Where would I find that 20 amp ignition feed fuse?

Look at the wire harness near the CDI unit and the starter solenoid.<br />There You find a red wire with a black fuse holder. Take the fuse holder apart and change the fuse. Part number for the fuse is: <br />682-82151-00. There should be a spare fuse too. On older engines the fuse was inside the black cover, and on newer its outside the cover near the fuseholder.

keep an eye on the cdi box when you re-start. i had a 1999 yami 80 hp 4 stoke catch on fire after replacing that fuse when the owner had recently 'jumped' it off.
