ewww
last one I did was an 89 225 and it had corroded a hole from the inside of the water tranfer passage between the V. water was pouring out around the tiller area. engine ran fine so I am looking for a block. I hope yours turns out better.
good luck and keep posting

Take off the lower unit and look at the seal between the gearcase and the leg. Theren should be a rubber seal. It´s located near the waterpump.
What gasket did you check?

rodbolt,
At least you know the cause of your leak.I'm still looking for mine.
Any chance of an epoxy helping your problem?About 6 years ago I had a 2 cylinder Evinrude getting h2o in one of the cylinders. Finally found it by splitting the engine case.It was getting into the crankcase thru the engine case and the cast in cylinder sleeve.OMC tech said junk, agreeable true.As a test,I applied 2 part epoxy to it.Ran fine.
Lost track of it after time, but it lasted 2 sea sons I know of,and I'd try again.

DHP

(I used OMC Flywheel Magnet Epoxy)

If you can get to it rodbolt, Devcon will usually seal it. Hard to find those blocks that haven't had salt exposure. Other blocks can be ported out to those also.

Re: YAMAHA SERV BULLETINS

its to far gone. the passage below the V that connects the two v's has a hole in it and I can pick chunks out with my knife. we were hoping it was just a bad gasket. the customer bought a new motor and I bought his old one for 300. runs great never overheated just pours water:) but I have a 91 225 with a bad lower that I picked up. powerhead has almost 200 hours on it and its been serviced and winterized at the same marina I contract at since new.
:) :)
I hope that 70 is not like my 225 .
good luck and keep posting
