Does anyone have any experience installing Yamaha Fuel management guage? It's listed on the Yamaha website as part #6Y5-W0088-64-00 for dual engines. I'd like to use one for my twin '88 carb'd 2 strokes (since they like to burn fuel :) . Looks like the kit includes sending units, harness and guage.

Is there any reason this wouldn't work with my motors? Is it tough to install? I might be able to buy one used, any issues to consider?

THANKS!

Hi,
You might want to have a look also at Navman Fuel 3100. It can handle dual engines (and tanks if needed). I have one myself but only for singel engine use (Yamaha F115). Slight negative thing is that You must calibrate the setup with a known amount of fuel (the more the better) otherwise You do not get accurate readings.
The Navman Fuel 3100 has fuel economy (as the Yamaha guage) but Navman show then nautical mile per liter(or gal) - not liter(or gal) per nautical mile as I belive the Yamaha guage display regarding fuel economy, that is if You interface it with a GPS so You get speed. Both guages display liter(gal) per hour also if You have no speed input and therefore can not calculate fuel economy.
About Your outboard and a Yamaha Fuel Management Guage - do You have the Yamaha Digital guages Tach- and speedometer also? Hope this digital Fuel Managemant Guage can be mounted with Your current electrical wiring setup.

hello the multifunction fuel management can be installed on your rig. it may require calibration and comes with instructions, if you buy it used make sure the senders have 4 small screws for the cover not 3. the 3 were recalled due to a leak potential. seems a lot got resold someplace. to interface for fuel/distance or other distance related events will require the later style yam speedo or a GPS with the wire interface. the interface does not come in the box, or use to not anyway. the rest of the wiring is plug and play if you have a factory ign harness.make sure you get the instructions or you wont likly hook up the engine sync connections correctly.

Thanks Rodbolt,

From the picture, it looks like 4 screws on the cover on the side of the sender that the wire comes out of. I can't see the other side, but based on your post, it looks like the new model.

I have the standard Yamaha ignition and wire harness and yamaha multifunction tachs. I'm adding a new GPS which will have the interface wire. Is there an easy place to connect it to?

I thought about adding a Yamaha multifunction speedo, but I didn't want to start messing with the pitot tube etc. on these old motors.
Hopefully it will come with instructions. If not, I'll try to get them from yamaha. Thanks for the info!

if ya cant let me know
I have a copy of the rigging guide someplace
the tricky part is the green and green/white wire from the gauge. the G/W goes to the PORT engine green wire for a tach signal. you will need the plun in adaper for interfacing the GPS. and the instructions for setting all the DIP switches are enclosed on a tag. or were when it was new. its also all in the rigging guide
