several months ago, you provided some input on my underperforming 200 hp suzuki. at last post, my season had ended and i said i would pursue your suggestions in spring.

last sunday, i took the cover(cowl) off and checked the air gaps for the pulser coils on the underperforming engine. one coil's air gap was visibly larger than the other two. i know you said to set the gap to a minimum voltage reading.

i presume a smaller gap = a higher voltage output. other than preventing physical interference, is there such a thing as "too small a gap"?

i still haven't located a cd77 with which to test voltage.

when acquired, is this test done with the engine running? cranking with the starter? or just manually rotating the magnet past the sensor?
