Alright, time to change my lower unit oil. Only been changed once since my dad bought it in 1994. Only gets used maybe 10 times a year. Owner's manual says SAE 90 gear oil. Well, all I can find is 85W 90. Same thing? Or do I need to do the legwork and find a straight 90 weight oil? I read about changing the gaskets on the fill and drain plugs. This is going into a 1994 Yamaha Pro 60, btw. Thanks y'all!! :D

Keith

I would use the Yamaha stuff.

By the way, you're about nine changes behind.

Dob't forget to get new drain/fill plug seals/o'rings.

85w90 marine gearcase lube will work. as well as GL5 75 w 90 marine gear lube. I use the yamaha stuff cause thats whats in the jug, the super tech stuff works as well. just make sure its for marine use and use new drain and fill washers.

As usual, the best source of info! Thanks all. I have to go to my local Yammie dealer to get the washers so I'll go ahead and get the Yammie oil too. So I will decarb, (since its never been done, and this motor spends most of its hours at just above idle running blue crab nets), change my oil, and I should be good to go!
