C25MLHV max rpm question

i have a 1997 25hp 2 stroke, the manual says max rpm is 5500, but with the stock prop it turns 6000 to 6200. 1998 and up models say 6000 is max, any idea why this year model was rated lower?

always make sure you use the correct comparison page. they made it 3 ways.25 2cyl,25 3cyl and a c25.<br /> I dont show a listing for specs on a C model past 97.

do you have any idea what the difference in the c models was?

the C model was a stripped version without oil injection. I have never had the inclination to look up mechanical specs.

thanks for the info, i was just trying to figure out what the difference was, do you think running it a little over 5500 would hurt?

most likly not but the gain in speed wont be worth it, put a prop with a few more inch's of pitch.<br /> there isw no such thing as a "stock" prop. the motor came with one but it does not mean its the correct one for the application. one reason the big motors quit coming with a prop.

Rodbolt can i bug you one more time, what would it take to put a 12 volt charging system on, i would like to keep a small battery charged for lights and 12 vold accesories. <br />thanks again!

does your model have 2 green wires that are capped off coming from under the flywheel? if not the cost is not worth it.
