Any one know if teh Pilot water streem is supposed to start when the motor starts and run full whenever the motor is running?

Mine does not come on when the engine starts. In fact when I started yesterday after the winterization it would not come on until I reved to about 1500RPM.

Any advise would be appreciated. Motor was purchased with the boat last June.

It takes awhile for the motor to fill up. But it should be pumping strong once it starts, about 30 sec max. At idle, that's usually the loudest part of that motor, pee water hitting the lake.

Might be a spider or something in the tube.

I took off the cowling and disconnected the tube fromwhere it connects to what I think is the fuel cooler. That piece had nothing in it. I looked closely at the cooling water inlet covers and they are clean. I did not take the covers off and look at the colling water passage inside.
The manual says "a continuous flow of water from the pilot hole shows the water pump is pumping water through the cooling passages.
There is 50 hrs on the motor. Could it be the pump? Impeller?

Shoot a little compressed air through the water indicator hose and it might clear any critters or debris in there. Dirt dobbers love to build in there.
