throttle backs off

i have a brand new yamaha four stroke and when i put the throttle lever down i find that i cannot let it go without it backing off a little is there an adjustment i can make before i take it in for my 10 hour service

yes on the control box there should be adjusters, either on the bottom or the front, you should be able to turn them a bit tighter by hand, if they are not hand adjustable which i doubt, try a screw driver, but don't make it too tight. good luck

Carl,<br /><br />Check this out:<br /><br />Throttle Tension Adjustment <br /><br />The cover can be tricky to get off, so you might want to drill a small access hole in the back of it (once you confirm it is where it is supposed to be) that you can plug with a grommet or cover with some black electrical tape. Well, irregardless of what the original poster's controls actually are, the Throttle Tension Adjustment link really has helped me out as my setup uses the 704 controls and I'm having the same problem. Thanks.

well yam now has about 7 boxes and there is a plethoria of aftermarkets as well, all take a slightly different method of throttle tension and at least one of the aftermarket boxes needs immagination and shims.<br /> the new premium 704 does not require the trim cover to be removed. finally.
