1989 DT140 IS IT FAULTY THROTTLE VALVE ASSEMBLY

Hi hope you can help i have a 1989 suzuki dt140 <br />after she has turned over on choke i turn choke off and she strarts right up but revs very very high for about 30 seconds and then settles down to idle again any ideas would be helpfull if the throttle valve censor assembly is faulty what are the symptoms I HAVE CHECKED FLOATS IN CARBS ALL ARE WELL

its supposed to do that, its part of the engine warm up map from the microprocessor/CDI.<br /> it holds the timing advanced for a specified period to insure it starts and continues to run.<br /> in the owners manual is a note about not shifting until the idle RPM is stablized and to allow 3-5 min to insure the engine is at operating temp before high speed operation to prevent cold piston siezure.

sorry rodbolt i forgot to add that ive had the engine for 4 yrs and she used to rev a bit on startup but now when she revs she sounds like she is gona blow

check the ign timing at cold start and isnue the throttle shutters are not sticking open.<br />sounding like she is gonna blow does not help us help you, an RPM will though.<br />timing should be locked at about 11*BTDC at warm up.
