Hello..
Key to on position..Low oil warning light goes on OK but no overheat light..
Tested overheat buzzer by shorting sensors on either / both banks - buzzes everytime.
Checked Pink wire... good from buzzer to CDI unit
Checked yellow wire... power with key on..
Even went and checked oil warning... lift up level sensor on the engine oil tank..buzzer and light OK.
Could it be that the CDI unit is not closing the connection for the pink wire?
Would the threaded thermositch come into play here at all?
Help!
Thanks / David
(Winspt)

Re: 1999 150 Vmax - No buzzer on startup

easiest way to test is to drain the water trap on the engine oil tank with the key on engine off.
make sure the remote tank is at least half full.
when the level in the engine oil tank drops about 1/2-1" below the lower level mark on the engine oil tank you should get 3 bars flashing, audible alarm and oil transfer.
it should refill the engine tank within 180 seconds. if none of the above actions occur it can indicate a problem. the service guide says to test it every 200 hours OR once per year.
with the oil sensor on the engine tank unplugged jump the harness side wires. blue/red to black with the key on and it should set the audible.
when you say low oil level is it one flasing bar or 3? if the remote tank is low you get no audible only visual. you also get no oil transfer by the CDI.

Thanks Rodbolt..
Can I ask a simple question.. should the overheat light and buzzer cycle when you turn the key to the first position?
Are they inter-related?

I will try the oil tank test...
Thanks

Sorry... above I meant to say.. Are the Oil and over heat warings inter-related.. other than sharing the buzzer?

no, they self test at key on only, single engine set up does not self test the audible.
when you first turn the key on all segments on the tach should light then reset to normal after a second or two.
duel engine setup, from yamaha, self tests the audible as well.

OK.. did the oil test and all is well.
Rodbolt.. If I read you correctly there is NO audible self check on single engine boats!
OK.. the light come on for the oil check (not for the over heat) when the key is in first position..perhaps this is normal!
I can trip the lights and audible by going to each sensor.. so maybe this is the way this thing is supposed to be?
THANKS

no audible self test on single engine, depending on the year of the tach there is no overheat visual.
until about 2000 or so thye over heat visual was in the speedo.
if ya had an alarm and looked at the tach and all was normal logic tells ya it must be overheat, or your cranking it with the stop lanyard removed.
your starting to make things difficult, do ya have an issue with the alarm or are you asking what can trigger visual and audibles ?
