The impeller, if it has one is located in the lower unit just above the propshaft at the lower end of the driveshaft like most all other outboards. It may have one but only to cool the housing for the exhaust gasses as I believe the motor itself is aircooled. You might try the toll free 1-800 number for Sears Parts and give them the model number. They should be able to set you up with a manual/parts list.

Joe, it is an air cooled motor, it doesn't have impeller.

Why is there a pipe that comes down to the lower unit by the screen. It looks like water is supposed to go up to something, what is this pipe for? How does the air cool it there is no place on the hood for air flow to flow through and cool engine?

It's unique for reasons Yepblaze indicates if you have the air-cooled model, but you should find a water pump in the normal spot.

I have recently rebuilt a 1969 sears ted williams 7.5 HP. it ran great but seems to overheat after long runs. i never touched the lower unit and im wondering if it has somthing to do with the water pump. is there one on this engine? and if there is where would it be located?

Welcome thisname,You should start your own thread there is a tab at the top of the page.It can be really confusing with multi posts.
These motor have an aircooled power head and a water cooled exhaust leg.
Most have pumps located in the lower leg just above the antivent plate.
If it doesn't have a pump there will be a tube down near the prop. Wash from the prop goes up the tube to a deflector to cool the leg.water should mist out the relief holes in the leg. Leg will get very very hot without cooling.

I'm taking one apart myself right now and am about to take the lower unit apart. If it has an impeller it will be right there in the prop bulb because it's the only spot big enough to house one. I'll be happy to let you know what I find. rsked12@aol.com
