Gamefisher 7.5hp Gas leaking out element pump

I have a 7.5 gamefisher which I can't seem to keep running. when I use the remote tank, it doesn't seem to get enough fuel.When I use the engine tank and turn on the fuel knob, gas was running out the exhaust down on the column before attempting to start it. I removed the carburetor and hooked the gas line back up from the engine tank. When I turned the fuel on, gas poured out the little rubber element pump. Should this do this, or is there something not working properly.

Go to Sears PartsDirect.com and get a carb rebuild kit for your model engine. Replace all gaskets and fuel pump elements and you should be OK. Fuel pump will leak raw gas into the engine when rubber elements develop cracks in them from age and cause symptoms that you describe. Good luck!
