I just acquired a 5 hp wards sea king. I would appreciate info on year, manufacturer, fuel mix, plug gap. I don't know how long this engine has been sitting, any hints on what to do prior to trying to start it?

We need a model number usually located on the mounting clamp also possibly on a soft plug on the powerhead.
Lacking a number a detailed description will help.

You have a 57, use 24:1 fuel mix with TCW3 rated oil.

Re: Into needed on Wards 5hp

This looks like the place to get some information on a seaking. I just bought an old (year unkn) seaking by Montgomery wards 7.5. The tag reads:

MANUFACTURED BY
CLINTON ENGINES CORP
MAQUOKETA, IOWA
MODEL NO. K7514106 A
SERIAL NO. 1194529\TYPE NO. XTV 50475 A

I got the motor running, she is going to need a good cleaning. I don't get any power to the prop. Soooo, I did what any other guy with tools and time would and took the lower unit off. I found a cast piece that engages the lower portion with the upper. I'll need that, as well as a manual. I think that I'm in deep enough with out some good guidance. If anyone can dire4ct me to a source for parts and manuals, I’d say good things about them behind their back.
