Givin it's year and hp, it is definetly an air-cooled engine. The midsection (the part under the engine, on which it sits) is cooled by water like a normal water cooled outboard. This is to keep the exhaust from heating the midsection to burning hot.<br />There's a regular-type water pump down on the lower unit to provide water for the midsection.<br />The easiest way to recognise an air-cooled engine is by all those fins on the head around the sparkplug, and along it's cylinder. A water cooled engine does not have fins on it, since it's not transfering any heat to the air.<br /><br />I hope this helps!<br /><br />PS - try to reply to your old post rather than starting a new one.
