Can anyone tell me what the correct gas/oil mixture is for this engine? I have heard both 16:1 and 50:1

Hi, Ayo.<br /><br />"Sea King 7HP" covers a lot of different engines. Some old, some more recent. Some air cooled, some water cooled.<br /><br />The correct fuel mix (and oil) depends on what it is.<br /><br />Give us the model number and someone here will be able to give you correct advice.<br /><br />Good luck. :)

Re: Montgomery Ward Sea King 7hp

The K700 is a '72 or '73 Clinton Outboard built motor. My source for that particulair engine says it should be 32:1, but JB once told me it's 16:1. Either way, use air cooled motor (chainsaw/weedwacker) type two stroke oil, not outboard stuff in that engine.<br /><br />I would probably go with 16:1. Too much oil means a fouled sparkplug, too little means a blown engine. 50:1 is far, far too lean.

I have this motor you can use 32:1 but the standard is 24:1, I have fully restored my motor with some new engr. These motors are very good and flexiable. I do need a prop, have one?

32:1 is correct

Truth is, it was originally designed as a chainsaw, and ran on 16:1. It runs a lot hotter as an outboard than it did as a chainsaw. Use 32:1 if you want, but in my humble opinion that isn't enough. The advertising guys think they know more than the engineers, and the advertising department sells more motors than the engineering dept.

Re: Montgomery Ward Sea King 7hp

hi,
i've just acquired a 7 hp montgomery ward outboard marked K700 1107a. It has compressioin, but no spark. I used the original spark plug and will try a different one tomorrow. If it needs a coil or points need cleaning, where can i find parts?

also I'm new to this site. How does a person start a new thread or new post. I've looked all over the site and can't figure it out?
