I have a 87 sylvan v171 17 foot. The hose that runs from the intake to the tank(under floor)has a large rip in it. I was thinking as a temp fix of running a litte smaller of a hose inside the existing hose. So that i would not have to cut up the floor. Dose anyone have any thoughts on this idea? Also what is the best method of flushing the tank? Th hole in the hos elet water and debris into the fuel tank while it was on the dealer lot for a few months. I just bought the boat a couple of weeks ago.
Thanks for any help.

Anything fuel related you have to fix right! You could cut a hole in the floor and install a hatch over it when your done.

The advice given, so far, is right on. You don't mess with fuel.

Also, make sure you use "red stripe" marine rated hose only. It is expensive, but you don't want to go cheap here.

Take the above advice!! replace the hose with the right one, never try to jury rig fuel lines, or for that matter, anything else on a boat!
