Din't your parents ever tell you that nothing is free. ;)
You may be able to get it welded.

Re: knocked my free outboard over ouch!

I think Chief101's option would be the first way to go. I see a bunch of 18hp brackets on ebay too. See if they're the same as yours. Use these search terms:
(18, 18hp) (johnson, evinrude) (tiller, handel, handle)

But replacing it is going to require quite a lot of disassembly that won't be necessary if a welder can get to it.

Try twincities outboards they have lots of used parts. You could also advertize at the antique outboard club and watch ebay for parts or a parts motor. Difficult to tell in my book but it appears the forward part of the pan can be replaced. There is also a chance a good welder could solve your repair.

Re: knocked my free outboard over ouch!

I forgot, I do have an exploded diagram of the 1960 Gale tilt/swivel bracket on file. Looks just like an 18hp. You can remove the forward part like the Big Twins, but you really have to pull the entire steering system apart.
Here in the middle of the ocean, that's not a simple task. Everything will be badly corroded together. If you do have to do it, fire me an email at Paul.Moir@gmail.com.
