I have a 2001 90 horsepower Johnson and the oil side of the VRO has been deleted. My question is can you use the v r o fuel pump as a regular fuel pump?

I have that pump but I want to take everything off because that square Box that holds the fuel in it is leaking which is causing a airleak I. Figured the best way to get rid of it would be take everything off
