It seems that there is slack in the steering. The lower unit will move back and forth about 5 inches from side to side before the steering wheel turns. Does this seem normal or is there away to adjust it. Its a 93 4.3LX 18 foot Mariah with MC Alpha 1 gen two.
I am doing the water pump and inspecting the gimble bearing today and wondering if it would be better to pull the lower unit before pulling the whole unit to inspect the gimble bearing. I have the manual but not very user friendly. Also changing the lower unit fluid.

1993 4.3LX with a Weber 4 barrel, Looked in manual and can not find where it tells how to adjust screws. Does anyone out there know how to adjust these screws.

I am new to this boat and not sure which way the linkage is suppose to go. I belive this is the 1993 Weber 4 barrel carb but could not find any numbers on it.
The first picture shows how I found it, the tab at the red arrow was bent back to allow the throttle to move foward. I bent this tab back...
