Why is it that when shifting gears. Mercs always sound like someone dropping a brick in a bucket.
I was sanding next to an E-tech a while ago and all you could hear was a nice little click as it moved from N to F.
I've been told that it's just the way Mercs are. Even when you drop the gearbox...

I have a 2004 140 carb 2troke. I have had this motor from new and have only 41 hours on it. I spent the last few years restoring and replacing the transom on my boat (which was previously fitted with a 1982 140HP merc) which is why I only have 41 hours...
