Trying to figure out if an 1990 Mercury 115 ob would be much worse on gas than a similar year small mercruiser i/o, say 130 or so. Probably carburated i/o but vs a 2 stroke ob would there realy be a huge difference? typical usage is tubing wakeboarding and cruising.

Just a question about how far to bang in a seal. I know you're supposed to only tap it in until it's even with the edge of the hub, but why not bang it all the way in? Like to the point where it helps keep the rear bearing in place?

I'm calling this the tilt rod, but please correct me if I'm using the wrong term. It's the rod that sets the minimum tilt on my motor manually by unscrewing it and putting it in a different hole.

Went to Bass Pro Shops yesterday and my wife got her Pleasure Craft Operators Card. Boaterexam.com had their tent set up and you could write the test for free and pay if you pass. She was nervous because she hadn't read the Safe Boating guide, but she still passed with 94%.

I also have a mystery wire that I have no idea what it is. It comes out of the harness at the same place the vro wiring harness does, but there is nothing around it...
I don't know the RPM's this happens at, but it's not too high. The 2000 to 2500 ranges sounds about right though.

Looking for ideas on how to make a transom mount for my transom mount trolling motor.
I've seen people just bolt a couple 2 x 4's to the transom and mount the motor on them, but it's ugly!
The universal mount I have is awful.
Any ideas? Pictures are golden......
