    running motor without lower unit attached

    Is it all right to hold the hose on the end of the cooper tube & then start & idle engine for a few seconds ? I have a knock in the motor i'm trying to find & I want to try it without the drive shaft in. I can hear it best when idling so I wouldn't need to rev it . 1989 25hp te25elceb

    25hp hunts after idle

    1989 25hp evinrude tracker on 16' bass tracker panfish. Compression is 70 psi on both cylinders. It idles fine & runs wide open fine, I estimate it runs 20 to 25 mph wide open. I just got the boat & took it out yesterday, I ran it for 25 minutes wide open it ran fine. I let it idle for a few...
