I haven't had a boat for about 12 years now. Our last boat was an old Bayliner 1950 Capri Cuddy that I paid very little for and did a lot of work to. Say what you will, that thing was a tank, and it could handle some crap for its size. I am looking again at a 19 to 23 foot cuddy of some sort...
We were out on the bay today...ran out to our fishing spot, about a 10 minute run....boat was running a bit hot, but not too bad...
Went to move after an hour and it would not start. I pumped the throttle a bit and it fired up but sounded rough....left it in neutral and gave it some more...
So I had another wheel bearing detonate on the way home from our vacation last weekend...I was about 1/2 way across the Bay Bridge (after a 15 mile backup) when I heard a noise...looked in the rear view and saw my bearing buddy bouncing down the road. The wheel it came off was wobbling pretty...
I will spare the back story....
ts a 1985 Bayliner Capri 1950. Been having alot of trouble trying to use the built in tank.
I cleaned it out, totally dry, or so I think. I had the boat as high up in the front as I could manage and after siphoning off what was in there, I took some rags and...
1985 Bayliner Capri cuddy, 1950.....Ive has this boat for 3 years now. i have tried to use the main gas tank several times with no luck. I cleaned it out really REALLY well this time, bone dry. I put a new sending switch/float in it.
I only put about 5 gallons in the main tank it in case it...
I bought a bimini top for my Bayliner and from what Ive seen, they all fold towards the back of the boat. Im worried that might get in the way when I have the top down. The whole rear deck of my boat is one big platform that opens, the anchor, engine and some storage is there. (Not stock, the...
I am going to get some new wheels with tires for my '84 load rite. It holds a 20 foot boat, single axle. Right now, it has 15" aluminum mag wheels from a ford ranger on it. (previous owner) The most reasonable price for new tires WITH rims I found was $110 a piece at one of the big box auto...
Putting a thermostat in my AQ125a....it did not have one in it when I got it to compare....
The diagram at the penta store is pretty small.
Looks to me like the end with the coils/spring should seat into the head, while the pointy end goes into that elbow housing that bolts to the tank....does...
I want to get a simple bimini top for my old bayliner, its a capri cuddy, 1950, about 20 feet long.
Ive been looking at those simple ones that look like they attach with straps on either side of where the rails come down in a V.... My boat does have a track of some sort along the sides, is that...
I have an old Bayliner. Its a cuddy, 20 feet in length. Trailer is a single axle, no brakes. I would bet that its at the upper limit of setups that do not have brakes. Right now, we tow it with an old B250 Dodge work van that weighs about 5000 pounds. It has creature comforts, I carpeted it and...
Ive removed the roller, but the piece that has the spring on it and the rod inside the spring is still on the motor. It mounts on a threaded post that screws into the block. The post has a squared off end sticking out beyond the rid/spring piece.
I want to remove the spring/rod to clean it up...
Lost a timing belt last night on the water. Not fun, I know what to do with it but I have some general questions.
My pulleys had been rusted at one point....when I rebuilt the motor last year I cleaned them off and they stayed pretty nice last season. over the winter lots of things in there...
I have an AQ125A that keeps burning up the alternator belt. As soon as you get to about 3200 rpms, you can smell the rubber burning. I read a thread elsewhere that an alternator can seize intermittently and cause this...does this sound reasonable? Could the engine water pump do this as well...
The needle on my temp gauge broke, and while I can still read the stub, I want to replace it. Originally it was a US marine gauge in an '85 bayliner. I bought a new old stock volvo penta branded gauge...but it did not come with a sending unit.
I know now that the existing sender adn the new...
My trailer is a 1984 Load rite....single axle, holds a 20 foot bayliner. Right now, it has automotive rims on it, they are aluminum factory "mags" from a Ford Ranger Im told. (Previous owner did this--I guess the originals were shot or something.)
Five lug, and 15 inch rims. I want to get a...
