    Boyesen Reeds

Are Boyesen Reeds as good as they claim? Has anyone used them with good results? I'm looking for better idle, '73 55hp is a little rough. Many have said its the nature of the beast, ie large bore 2cyl= a rough idle.

    Old Suzuki Overhaul

Has anyone out there done an overhaul on a 1980 2 clyinder DT65? I want to overhaul mine, bad lower rings will not idle. I found 99.9% of the parts at Browns Point, 1 single part is discontinued. It is a "labyrinth Seal Ring" it sets between the two cylinders. Is it and absolute "must" replace...

How reliable is the old points magneto system? I'm thinkin about swapping out ignition system in my '73 55HP to CD. Wow often do the points need adjustment? How many hours do a set of points generally last? The points are a ridiculous price, $75 for 2 sets of points and condensers. If given...

    DT65 Running Very Rich

My 1980 DT65 has developed a problem. It is running very rich at idle, and it's hard to start. I put a new set of plugs in it today and I still could not get it to idle for more than 30-40 seconds. I pulled the brand new plugs out and they are black and wet. I installed new carb kits...

Cannot Shut off motor at switch.

I have a wiring SNAFU. My 1980 DT65 will not shut off at the ignition switch. I have to choke the motor till it floods out, to kill it. Some knucklehead in the past has bypassed both the kill switch and the neutral safety switch. Right now, the Brown wire from the ignition switch control...

    Prop wont fit WTF???

Still working on my1980 DT65 Two, YES 2 cylinder. The prop it came with will not fit without totally destroying the prop shaft seal. If I tighten up the prop nut, the bushing will rip the brand new prop shaft seal to shreds. Also There is a 1/4" gap between the lower unit housing and the prop...

    Horsepower Rating

Where is the horsepower rated on my 1980 Suzuki 65, at the prop or powerhead? Some have told me all outboards before 1983 were rated at the powerhead. Other's have told me it depends on the manufacturer. How much stronger is 65HP at the prop versus 65HP at the powerhead? This type of info...

    1980 Suzuki DT65

I want to sell my Suzuki motor, what would be a fair asking price for my 1980 DT65? No power trim/tilt. It includes the control box and wire harness. It is a 2cyl, lower unit just resealed with new impeller($256.00 for this service). Motor given a full tune last year, new plugs, carb kits...
