I would like to thank you all very much for your helpful suggestions and comments. I will call the NJ DMV and start there. I will keep the forum posting on my progress. I am also going to see if mom who tuns 87 on Monday, still has some boat sale records. Maybe I can dig up the Hull...

A quest to find my Dad's Old DUO Runabout

Well, I am considering getting back into boating but have decided I would like to see if I could find my Dad's actual old vintage '68 DUO runabout. I often wonder if it is still in existence. The boat had an old 40 HP Johnson Sea horse and my Dad and I would have a great time boating around...

Almost back in the H2O. New engine, new carb, new fuel pump, one issue left.

Well, if anyone's been following along. I blew my 305 cu inch, replaced it with a new rebuild 350 block. Rocheser carb was operating poorly-Edelbrock 1409 installed. Continued to have fuel issues, replaced electric fuel pump with Mercruiser mechanical OEM pump. Result engine runs very well...

Fuel pump down change conversion-electrical to mechanical-I'm done

Hello, Well this is my third or so posting. Transformed from Rochester to Edelbrock on my 350 block 260 hp mercruiser Alpha one installation. The engine still gets way to much fuel and floods. I have come to the conclusion that the electric fuel pump does not fit in well with this...

5.0 to 5.7 swap. what parts are interchangeable

Re: 5.0 to 5.7 swap. what parts are interchangeable Gosh I just did what you are talking about. I have Wellcraft Eclipse 215. I blew my 305 vortec block, I threw a connecting rod at high rpms- sigh...-see photos. A tough day, but a good one for Sea tow. In any case, everything came apart...

Final items for edelbrock 1409 installation

Hello again, I had written a transition from Rochester to carb thread and have a few other issues that may be of interest for my 350 Mercruiser alpha one install. Rochester use an in-carb fuel filter and Edelbrock units do not. Is it necessary to install an in-line filter on the fuel line...

Transitioning to Edelbrock 1409 from Rochester Quadrajet

Ok, the (expensive) saga to repower my boat continues. I hope you guys can help me with the latest challenge. I've put in my new reman 350 block to replace my blown 305 cu in. It runs, but badly, related to fuel delivery. Stalls, power is poor, etc. After numerous bad experiences with...

Super Genius strikes again-305 Mercruiser Alpha one- Ran perfect-Now toast

Well, Finallly got the boat all tweaked up. My new Rochester Quadrajet was performing well. The other two barrels opened up for the first time and I now had full power available. (I had posted a thread on no acceleration over 3000 rpm, but the as it turns out I mistakenly received a 5.7 L carb...

Mercruiser TRIM Tab Anode-INstallation dilemna Photos! Help!

Ok, I'm in need of therapy. I am replacing the simple trim tab anode on my Mercruiser Alpha one first generation. It is a simple attachment using hex head cap screw. The screw bolts in from inside the drive housing. I can see no way of getting access without taking the outdrive apart. I...

Revenge of the Rochester Quadrajet-No high end acceleration!

Well, I had posted a thread on a leaky Rochester quadrajet on my 305 cu in. Mercruiser Alpha One. After about 20 rebuilds, new float, numerous tests. I decided it was an internal leakage issue, and it needed throttle bushings badly. Therefore I purchased another "new" rebuilt Quadrajet from...

Rochester Quadrajet still leaking-throttle plate? Elec fuel pump pressure?, float?

Please help! Got myself a used '91 Wellcraft 21.5' Eclipse bowrider/mercruiser sterndrive. The dates of the major components are unknown. The 305 cu in. is supposedly fairly recent, with an Alpha One Gen I drive. The guy who fitted the engine opted for a rebuilt Quadrajet 4MV with a Jms...
