Do you use ethanol fuel (regular gas station) or the 100% gasoline fuel (pump at the marina)? If ethanol fuel was left in all winter I'm sure its gone bad by now (assuming you forgot stabil..), has a shelf life for 3 months.
Topping off with fresh should have helped though. You may have to have...
Nice post, Chris.... This really comes down to how little understanding people have on torque vs hp.... HP is the flashy number, but torque is the number that actually matters (especially in a boat)...
Hot rod cams marginally (if at all) increase usable torque, they simply move it to a higher...
agree, you need to run a compression test and an overall assessment of the health of your engine if these are your actual results.
I’m lost because planing your boat with a 17p prop compared to a 21p prop should be much easier, not harder, so even if the engine had low power, a smaller pitch...
So you were hitting 4000 RPM’s and 32 MPH (gps verified) with a 21p prop, now you’re hitting 3500 RPM’s and 30 mph with a 19p... and it wouldn’t plane with a 17p....
Something is clearly not adding up.
Hey guys, hope you’re staying safe and healthy. Anyways I went to take my boat out and noticed the gas gauge wasn’t working, was on E (I just filled it up last week when I went out last). I popped the sender out and cleaned the contracts, still same issue. I tested the gauge my shorting the pink...
Hello. My 1990 mercruiser 5.0 throttles right up and gets on a plane just fine. Runs about 40 mph at 4600 RPM. After about 60 seconds of running wide open it starts to lose RPM’s. Once it’s down to about 4000 RPM there’s an audible “clatter/rattle” coming from the motor. Throttle down and idle...
Hello guys I have a 1990 sea ray with the 5.0 mercruiser. I unwinterized it and noticed the u-joint bellow has popped off the transom side. Is it possible to slide it back on and tighten the clamp without paying someone to pull the outdrive? Anything else I should know? I’m not very familiar...
I have a 1979 115 hp evinrude that came on a project boat. The motor fires up without much hesitation, and seems to run great out of the water on the muffs. Revs good in gear and doesn’t sound like it has any misses. In the water under load, it doesn’t plan the boat (16 foot tri hull) in under...
