I am trying to learn about the motor that is on a boat that I am picking up later today, or tomorrow. The owner says it is a 115 Mercury Optimax DFI
I dont see anywhere on the motor that it says optimax anywhere. I did like at the serial number and model number, and the model says 115ELPTO and...
OK...i have a 16 ft fiberglass fish / ski boat.
I also have a motorguide 30lb thrust 12volt foot controlled trolling motor laying around that I would like to hook up.
Ok...currently my boat only has one battery, but obviously in the past its had 2 because there are wires in another area for...
ok...so I had my carbs rebuilt...got the motor running pretty good...fires right up now...decarbed the motor, tested spark and compression etc....except goofy me...somehow i flipped the carbs around...the carb with the cam roller is on the bottom...i took off the cam roller before I knew what...
Ok...so im about to just say screw it.....some may have saw my other threads.....I rebuilt my carbs...cleaned them up good (or so I think)...new gaskets...float, needle, seat...etc....anyways I went to finally start it yesterday, and it fired right up....before it wouldnt run on its on without...
Ok...so I tore into the carbs tonight after people suggesting cleaning the carbs from a starting issue I had with the boat, and only wanting to start using the manual over-ride on the primer solenoid. The boat has gas in it, but I dont know how long its been sitting.
Anyways, I took the carbs...
So, i changed the plugs on my new to me motor earlier from a set of ones that the guy said were fouled...put the water muff on, and tried cranking...the motor would crank, and start with me pushing in on the key and the neutral idle all the way up, but as soon as I let go, the motor would shut...
Ok...So I am new to the boating...I picked up a fish / ski boat....but where in the word do I tie to to pull skis or a tube, etc? I have a big 90hp outboard in the way, and dont see anything either to do such a thing?? :confused:
