Should I cap it? Honestly can't tell where it runs once it goes into the midsection

    1983 evinrude 115 mystery hose

Just picked up an 83 115 and am about to start going through it and get it ready to power my pontoon. After looking I've noticed this hose and cannot figure out what it goes to. My 78 and 79 85 do not have this any help is appreciated.

    25' pontoon prop help

Omc short shafts are 15" if I remember right. Mine is the 20" shaft

But I've also noticed that the rear of the toons are only about half way submerged. Versus like this photo of a tracker. The toons sit much deeper in the water in the rear so possibly I need to really look into lowering my engine more

It would raise the engine pod out of the water a bit. I would assume that would keep the pod from diverting water away from the cavitation plate and help alleviate the issue. I believe so anyway. Otherwise I think I would have to modify the transom board to allow the engine to be mounted lower

I might have to try to get it lower. The bottom of the engine pod diverts so much water when the boat gets going that you can see the top of the cavitation plate above the top of the water. So I think I need to remove that wedged piece or get the engine lower

    25' pontoon prop help

No the only thing in front of the prop I've noticed is the bottom of the engine pod seems to divert the water quite a bit. The faster I go the more it diverts the water and that's when it seems to cavitate or ventilate. I can only get about half throttle before it over revs and loses bite

    25' pontoon prop help

Bought a 1980 maurell 25' pontoon with a 79 evinrude 85hp with 13 1/4x17 prop. With the engine lowered to the lowest hole it seems like the prop either cavitates or ventilates. When the boat starts picking up speed it sounds like the prop comes out of the water and revs really high. When I lower...

    Does this help a little?

This is how it looks with it lowered all the way down

I did. It was at up for an 8 cylinder. I switched it for a 4 but still is not accurate.

Do I stay with the same diameter and just get a lower pitch?

I will definitely look into another prop. I installed an omc tach but it shows to idle at 3k so I think I was sold a faulty tach

It's as low as possible right now without drilling more holes in the transom board
