Hey all
Last season I replaced the reverse lock mechanism on my VP 280. Everything seemed fine, but towards the end of the season I started to lose the ability to go into reverse reliably. It seemed like the very first time I would shift into reverse each day I would get it, but then there was...
I’m reviving this old thread of mine. Short story is that last season I had lost reverse on a VP 280. I had tried adjusting linkages, made sure the cable was properly seated in the anchor plate, adjusted the trunion etc. but couldn’t get it to work.
When I finally hauled it for the season I put...
ESG, I did the trouble shooting as specified in post #4 of that link you shared, and it seems like I do have a ground leak. With + terminal disconnected I had 12v when measuring between the disconnected + cable and its respective battery terminal. I then checked resistance and it seems like it’s...
I should pull off just the neg battery cable and then check correct? If it’s a ground leak and the bildge pump is the culprit what is the solution? New bildge pump?
I have a 2001 Volvo Penta 3.0 GSP-A . While trying to see if I had spark (I did) I happened to notice that there was continuity between positive and the engine block. I also had continuity with neg to the block. Then a few minutes later i didn’t have continuity with positive. Then I did. Etc...
Hey all
I have a 2001 VP 3.0 GSP-A. I believe it hydrolocked the other day. User error. Was pretty choppy and so people went to the rear cause they were getting wet, and next thing I knew we lost power. Tried to start it but after turning over a few times it just sounded seized. Pulled the plugs...
I just wanted to close this thread out. Ends up it was a bad o-ring in the oil fil port that is near the shift linkages. Changed the oil and the o ring and all seems well. Just wanted to post that in case anyone is referencing this in the future. Thanks !
This is my first boat that has a trim system so I’m not sure how to inspect it. Put the boat on a trailer and do a visual inspection? Am I supposed to pressure test it somehow? So far all I did was check the level of the resevoir, and I can keep my eye on that to see if it changes. But I assume...
Hey all
I have a 2001 VP 3.0 and the drive says “SX” on it. Don’t know if “SX 175” is correct or if that is referring to the model of the glastron boat ??
When the boat has been sitting in the water I don’t see an oil sheen, but once I get on and jump around a little bit the tiniest sheen...
Ends up it was written on the registration. doi. I stopped in at the DMV and they showed me which number it was. Would that also be written/stamped somewhere on the boat theoretically?
Hey all, I’m trying to figure out the Hull ID number on an old 1970’ish Nautaline Houseboat. The placard in the engine compartment ((see attached) is pretty beat up. I can do a rubbing of it and probably get the numbers in the lower left hand corner, but I won’t know what they are associated...
I thought of one other thing that changed prior to this problem starting. I had done some transom work and when I put the new transom shield in I didn’t re-install the trim motor because it was broken. I can’t imagine that has anything to do with the issue, but I figured it was worth mentioning...
Yes the pawls catch in all gears. I haven’t tried yanking super hard. Just lifted enough to see if they catch. I guess without putting it in the water I can’t really know if they catch enough to hold it in place while in reverse ?
Capt...the drive was kicking up in reverse last year. The tricky part is...I noticed it kicking up while troubleshooting other shifting issues. A year later (and with the boat out of the water) I'm learning more about how the reverse lock mechanism works, and I'm wondering if:
a) it was kicking...
