    hello every body,and thanks for your time and responce ,I have a 18' johnboat /flat ..using a builders square my transom depth is 17" deep ...yes positive ...old and VERY HEAVY would not a long shaft ....say 25/30/35/40 horse be a better length, what puzzles me is the 17" depth would...

    transom length

    hello and thankyou at the same time, I have a very heavy/wide alum.john boat the transom looks to be 16&1/2"deep would you still run a short shaft on the boat ,just looks like the bottom of motor would be even with thehull?this is a oldd ,3seat/bench2rowing slottedboat [old] age?...old mullet...
