    No low gear forward throttle & lots of smokes

    Bought an 89 force 85hp which has not been running for at least 7 years. Prop turns fast on full throttle but not on low gear and lots of smokes. Please advise. Thanks.

    When replacing the impeller do I need to shift the gear into the forward position like the mercury engine? Thanks for any response.

    Impeller replacement

    I have an 1989 Force 85hp engine and I am trying to replace the impeller. I removed all six bolts under the l/u, but can't seem to lower or remove the l/u. Any help regarding the removal of the l/u and to replace the impeller is greatly appreciate it. Thanks all.
