    Fiberglass stringer foam repair

Hello everybody, after getting my 95 Glasstream Yamaha build straightened out I have another project. I just acquired a 1998 Glastron SE175 with a 3.0 Volvo-Penta. The Glastron has fiberglass, foam filled stringers (VEC?). I have searched a bit and found quite a few posts about who does it...

    Yamaha water inlet grates

Anyone know where I can get a set of the plastic water inlet grates for the lower unit on a 92 Yamaha stern drive? I'm wondering if these things are "universal", eg as long as the fill the hole and can put a screw though it

    Yamaha trailer switch not working

Does the trailer trim switch connection go all the way up to the shifter control or does it "splice" into the harness at the engine/transom? 1992 Yamaha 5.7

Plumbing Mercruiser manifolds on a Yamaha

Ok so this is what I ended up with. Yes that is a Yamaha riser bolted to Mercruiser manifold. BTW anybody want to buy a set of brand new Barr Marine Mercruiser risers? I'll make you a great deal lol

Finally!! Mercruiser manifolds on a Yamaha 5.0/5.7 stern drive.

Understanding the water flow of a Yamaha engine. Apparently Yamaha had the idea to have the manifolds and the engine block the same temperature. Still not sure if thats a good thing or a bad. The one thing to understand is the ?plate? below the thermostat housing (Btw the thermostat housing is...

    Need help with yamaha 4.3

Don't get to caught up in the boat part of the engine. It's still a Chevrolet 4.3L V6. It helps to have an extra hand with this. Find top dead center on the compression stroke: 1 Turn the crank until the timing mark on the harmonic balancer is 180 degrees of the timing mark on the engine. 2...

Finally!! Mercruiser manifolds on a Yamaha 5.0/5.7 stern drive.

Took me some re-engineering and a LOT of patient but I finally got it. Took it to the water yesterday and it worked great. At least I didn't have to re-engineer my mounting brackets. Well except the fuel filter bracket but it just involved drilling another hole. The pic is during final assembly...

Plumbing Mercruiser manifolds on a Yamaha

Thanks guys Your right Thumper, that was my option one. The Mercruisers have an inlet in the bottom that I would use. They also have 2 in the top of the manifold and one in the back of the riser. If I did that then it would be a cold manifold setup and this may be the best way to go. But I was...

Plumbing Mercruiser manifolds on a Yamaha

I didnt really know where this needed to be. It's a Yamaha engine setup but I'm using Mercruiser manifolds. A little background. Its a 1992 Glasstream 190 SE with a Yamaha 5.0 setup. The previous owner didnt winterize the boat quick enough and the bloke and manifolds cracked so I'm doing a 5.0...

    92 Glasstream 190 SE - 5.0 to 5.7 swap

I have all of the rot cut out. Like I said when it comes to fiberglass this is new territory to me. There was thin spot in the fiberglass between the bed and the stringer and the stinger got a little damp in one spot. Got it all cut back to dry wood. Should I cut/grind away all of the engine...

    92 Glasstream 190 SE - 5.0 to 5.7 swap

I drilled a few small holes in the stringers and the bit went in solid and came out with some nice yellow looking dust. So looks like my stringers are in good shape. When I went to drill into the engine beds the bit went in pretty solid but when I pulled the bit out it was pretty much what I...

    92 Glasstream 190 SE - 5.0 to 5.7 swap

Got the manifolds back last week. They brazed up the cracks pretty good. Hopefully the insides aren't cracked. Still need to clean them up and give them a coat of paint. Wonder how long the paint will last on these lol I'm thinking of swapping sides with them so the brazing is on the backside...
