Thanks for the replies guys. The fact that they came with thread sealant from the factory fills me with a little more hope!
I still just might try to weld them in-place first, it might save me from pulling the motors and drives.
Such a stupid design, jeez... :(
On both of my two VP AQ290 drives, I have significant corrosion, where the bellows attach from the exhaust elbow. Basically the same situation as in this pic (not mine):
I did already manage to hack a quick fix by chopping of the corroded ends under the bend and then using a 90 degree elbow...
Thanks for the reply but I have my doubts about using a screwdriver..
The workshop manual calls for 110Nm / 81 ft lb for the cone nut and 22 Nm / 16 ft lb for the center screw.
110Nm is impossible to achieve with a screwdriver or any short rod
My boat is about 200km away and I would like to ask if anyone know what size is the tightening hole on the propeller locking cone nut?
Usually I see people jamming a screwdriver in there, but I wanna go to the hardware store and buy a steel pipe to stick in there and turn it with ease.
Thanks...
Hi,
It's my first time writing here so forgive me if I forget to mention anything.
I have a 1986 ~30ft fairline targa with dual VP AQ290A engines coupled to 290 drives. The shifter levers mounted are I think still the original ones from VP, and its probably worth mentioning that they don't...
