Re: Bent bracket on raw water pump is $140? Seriously?
Finally got my pump off. It looks like the bearing crashed from all the rust in there. Most likely caused by salt water back when it had a small little leak in Florida. I'm assuming the bearing seized up while I was on plane the other day...
Can anybody tell my why my raw water pump bracket is bent? And more importantly... why the new part costs $140?
It's part #8 on this parts list. Rather than holding the pump at the starboard side of the pulley, it's bent back over the top now...
i was surprised to do a search and find that nobody has ever asked about rust in their carb. I have a twin barrel Holley on my Penta 3.0GLP-E and I'm beginning to think it's one of the ones they recalled, seeing as how i have had to rebuild it twice due to corrosion.

I have a water leak somewhere in the lower area of my serpentine belt (I can tell by the way it flings water off the belt in that area) and I was suspicious that it was my raw water pump, but now I'm not so sure.

Okay... so you may have noticed my other post I just posted about the TRS removal.
On the other outdrive I can't get the prop off. Hadn't been greased in quite some time I don't think. How do you budge it loose? I'm going to go grab some penetrating oil and WD-40 and spray them down all day...
Put it in gear, remove prop, remove hydraulic tubes, loosen 6 nuts... I've gotten this far. Now I just can't get the dang thing to slip off. Seems like there's some corrosion around a few of the 6 bolts. I tried wedging wood in to a few diff places... nothing.
How do they get these things off...
Apparently parts for VOLVOS are a pain to find. It's an 07 3.0 Penta GLP-E motor. 107 hrs, lots of shallow driving in sand where I'm at. Need a new impeller. Anybody know where to get one from? I found a raw water pump rebuild kit that has the impeller but it's like 60 bucks. Doesn't interest...
Okay so here's the skivvy. The port motor idles at around 1300-1500 when in neutral. Once I put both motors in gear they both idle just under 1000 and nice and even and smooth. But when I pull them both out the port motor revs back up to 13-1500.

When I put the port side motor in gear there's a terrible grinding sound coming from the back of the boat. Not sure if it's the tranny or the outdrive or something inside the gimball.
The old boat mechanic I work with told me it could either be the bearing inside the gimball housing somewhere...
