Making more room on the boat - move the cooler off!

Alright, this could be a complete distraction and in the wrong section but . . . I saw this and couldn?t resist: I have to get one of these for my little boat and float it behind while trolling. The thing is 15? in diameter and will look like you are going after a heck of a big fish. It...

    Solar battery Chargers

Just curious to find out if anyone has used one of the small solar battery chargers to charge/maintain their deep cycle battery. I have a plug in charger now, but it seems like my battery is always loosing its charge, even though it is relatively new. I have a feeling it has to do with the...

Never any problems when you are alone . . .

I was feeling rather confident after having a flawless first launch of my boat a couple weeks ago, so I had no worries in mind when going out last weekend with my 8 year old stepson. I should have known better . . . Perfect morning for fishing, the ramp was rather empty and the boat launched...

    Fishing age

When did you start, or start your kids on fishing? I have an 18 month old son and am itching to get him out in the boat. I am curious to find out what ages people tend to get their youngsters out and fishing.

Where should the boat rest on the bunks?

I just got a trailer and currently the bunks line up right under the fins on the bottom of the boat. I have a feeling that this is not quite right, so I am curious, should they rest outside (red) or inside (blue)?

Are these just regular hub fittings?

Not a trailer expert by far, can anyone tell me if these are just regular hub fittings? If not, how do they get serviced?

Crawdad, Crawfish, Mudbug Trap Etiquette and Tips

I have this new-to-me boat, with almost all of the pieces assembled including a crawfish trap. What I am curious about is trap etiquette. When fishing I tend to move around the lake a bit, but would like to drop the trap somewhere and let it sit. What is the proper way to do this? Any tips...

    Aluminum boat paint job

The set up: It?s 110 outside; the crappie, stripper and bass are biting; I have a new (to me) outboard that hasn?t seen water yet; the wife is occupied all day; I have 6 cans of self-etching primer, a dozen or so cans of paint and four cans of spray bed liner. I also have a very ugly boat ? a...

This just does not look like a good idea . . .

Not a porta-boat, but a folding boat: http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/boa/777605805.html How do you register such a thing?

    Is this a suitable trailer?

Is there anything wrong with this trailer? http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=5002 I have a 12? aluminum boat that I have been throwing in the back of my truck. I mostly go fishing with my step-son (age 8) who is not a lot of help when it comes to the loading...

Got the boat & motor - now all I need is a clue

I purchased a 1971 12? Chrysler Aluminum boat for $175, which included a Minn Kota 27 lb thrust trolling motor. Separately, I purchased a 2007 Briggs & Stratton 5 hp 4 stroke for $350 (used once, runs great). The darn boat leaks (only a little bit ? maybe a gallon an hour) and is rather...

    New to boating

I recently bought a 1971 Chrysler 12? V-bottom with a 15? transom and overall weight limit of 555lbs. It came with a little trolling motor and not much else. I am looking at getting a little outboard for it so that my step-son and I can get around the lakes at something higher than walking...
