    As you note...it is a very important part...and some would say, why take a chance? My thought would be it never had a chance to "take a set" so you should be fine.

    Just the cavitation plate is damaged? And yes, it can be welded...but make sure your welder is competent and understands cast aluminum welding.

    I would resist having all chain...for the reasons already mentioned. In an emergency situation where you need to cut the anchor loose, having all-chain would give me the willies!
