    Testing..Since the electric choke is grounded by it's attachment to the frame..shouldn't a independant hot wire from the battery's hot side activate it? I'm thinking I'm bypassing the neutral and key switch and delivering power directly to the solenoid's hot lead... I'm not getting a response...

    Thanks Q. There's power to the choke so I'm taking it out. It looks like the cowling support (frame at front of the motor) has to come out! Anybody ever taken a choke out of a 1986 Classic Fifty?? Maybe there a trick to it!

    Thanks Jimmbo, I did that first, then put the direct power to the power connection on the choke.. magnet did not engage, so it's coming out. Thanks for the response!
