    1975 Mercury 500, why wont the leg go back in?

    Changed the impeller 5 years ago, easy as pie - now the leg just will not go in, about 3/4 of an inch away, all lined up on bolts, GRRR..On the plus side I am gaining superior upper body strength by holding the leg up for what seems like hours. Any tricks on lining up?
