i have an 1987 85 hp force outboard w/low compression on 2 and 3 cylinders. I have a chance to buy an 85 mercury, year unknown, do i have to change control cables?? It is a 15'-5" 1987 vip bass boat.
How would i know where and how to get cables if needed?? Will it just attach to fow...

just bought an old minn kota 565 turbo bow mount 36 lbs thrust for 25 bucks w/batt. Prop works fine from foot pedal. But when i step on pedal motor does not turn. I opened it up to see that one cable is hooked up loosely, and other is completely broken off. I hope this is an easy fix...

Hello,someone please help.I have a 1987 hp 85 force, where does the water spit out from engine? engine will only run for a few seconds, then shut down .It has been sitting for a few years. This is a project bass boat.I am getting frustrated cause i dont know much about marine engines.
